The Kansas Medical Center University has recently established a new clinical research center. This clinical research center is expected to be one of the best centers of the country. It is handling at-least 25 to 30 Phase 1 cancer drug and treatment trials at once.

The Kansas City Star has mentioned in a report that the clinical Research Center started admitting patients last week and it is in the process of carrying out 10 Phase 1 trials.

These patients will be checked up by doctors and go through tests, as well as drug therapies. Raymond Perez, who is the medical director of the clinical research center, said that, "We'll pick up the pace of the activities here in by having a facility of getting people to think, have conversations and relax which is the first phase of our research." The purpose behind this is to find out how a drug is metabolized and whether it has any side effects.

These trials will be mostly related to cancer drugs. The other studies will involve diseases like Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, liver disease as well as other severe medical conditions. This Clinical Research Center has been donated by the Hall Family Foundation.

Stain resistant carpet is a great choice, such as among the range of Empire Flooring, because it can make the clean up of spills and messes quick and easy. Even hard to clean stains like red wine on your beige carpet can be cleaned up more easily if your carpet is designed to be stain-resistant. The time it takes to clean up other types of messes like mud, spilled food, pet stains, and more, can be cut down significantly by installing stain-resistant carpet.

While it's true that no carpet is 100% stain-resistant, there are many great options which allow you to remove most stains quickly and easily with no lasting damage to the carpet, such as Empire Today carpet. Most stain-resistant carpet is treated with a special chemical finish to repel dirt and liquids so they don't set into the carpet and cause a stain.

Stain-resistant carpet is made possible by advanced technology. Most stain-resistant carpeting is made from nylon fiber which is treated with a variety of stain-resistant coatings. The major carpet manufacturers use different types of coatings to make their carpets stain-resistant, and each has their own proprietary treatments and application methods.

These tend to fall into two basic categories, depending on the way the nylon fibers are treated. The carpet fibers are either infused with the stain-resistant chemicals before they go to the carpet mill or the chemicals are applied after the carpet has been weaved. The company that you purchase your stain-resistant carpet from should provide you with detailed instructions on proper cleaning methods for removing different types of stains. In many cases, clean up simply involves cleaning with water, or soap and water, as soon as possible.

Shares of the biotech firm NicOx have been pummeled after an EU panel rejects their anti-inflammatory treatment naproxcinod. The French company said it would drop its European application for the treatment after an expert panel gave it the thumb's down. This comes on the heels of a US FDA rejection as well, and caused shares of the company to drop 34% following the announcement.

The FDA had serious issues with the safety of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkiller, and said that the developer never made a successful case that the new therapy did not raise blood pressure. However, the rejections have instead caused the company to cut its workforce by 50% and abandon its US HQ.

Mr Moses Shaha, Regional Chairman Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmers' Forum (ESAFF), said that the relaxing regulations which govern GMOs are counterproductive as biotechnology companies focus on commercial interests. ESAFF is an umbrella organization of activists opposed to GMOs. The future of biotechnology regulator regime is debated and many experts and activists are giving their opinions about the biotechnology.

This financial year, Govt. has allocated 30 billion for research under Commission for Biotechnology. Tanzania Alliance for Biodiversity members consider that Biosafety regulations for biotechnology should be based on precautionary principle. The Alliance conducts and supports similar movements in South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, and Uganda, to resist the Africa-wide pressure from the US-driven biotechnology industry.

New research shows that as of today, the biotech world puts a great deal of emphasis on clinical development and regulatory affairs jobs. According to an article by the Economic Times two of biotech's ace staffing experts, DHR International's Victor Kleinman and Solomon Page Group's Tom Murphy, have rated these two skill sets as some of the most sought after in the industry.

With more than 20 years of experience each in biotech recruiting, Kleinman and Murphy have a hands on understanding of the staffing requirements of biopharma firms. With the recent increase in the number of small biotech firms the need for candidates in these roles has increased exponentially. Having covered the basic groundwork in research and development of drugs, these biotech companies are now on the lookout for fully functional management teams and qualified leaders.

Biotech employees are among the most happy with their daily tasks and the level of control they feel they have over that work. A new study reveals employees value coworkers and personal control over compensation. While salary is always an important component of every job, money is not enough to keep good employees happy.

In biotech jobs, the workers make a career out of tweaking nature: Biotechnology fuses engineering and technology with the life sciences.

"In biotech jobs, the people that they work with, and more specifically the person that they work for, tends to rank higher in terms of importance, and employees are overwhelmingly happy with those conditions," according to CareerBliss. The field of biotechnology is currently a growth industry, which makes growth opportunities in the field another key ingredient to its workers' overall happiness.

Nanotechnology makes use of minuscule objects known as nanoparticles. Upwards of 600 products on store shelves today contain them, including transparent sunscreen, lipsticks and even food products.

The promise of food nanotechnology, a Dutch scientist said, is it could allow re-engineering of ingredients to bring healthy nutrients more efficiently to the body while allowing less-desirable components to pass on through. European food scientists use nanotechnology to create structures in foods that can deliver nutrients to specific locations in the body for the most beneficial effects.

According to a representative survey, nanotechnology is currently perceived as a good thing by consumers. However, consumers adopt a far more critical attitude towards the use of nanotechnology in food and food contact articles. European food companies already use nanotechnology in consumer products, but few volunteer the information to consumers.
